International exhibition for animal husbandry and animal breeding in Russia continues to grow - Some 370 exhibitors from 29 countries - Over 50 professional events - Modern reproductive technologies a key highlight

The international exhibition for animal husbandry and animal breeding in Russia, AgroFarm, held from 4 to 6 February 2014 at the All-Russian Exhibition Centre ( VVC) in Moscow, will display solutions for Russia’s livestock market from some 370 exhibitors from 29 countries.
 
A comprehensive range of technology for modern cattle, pigs and poultry, in addition to equipment for goats, rabbits and aquaculture await visitors. The number of exhibitors has increased by about 12 percent compared to 2013, resulting in an additional exhibition hall. International participation at AgroFarm continues to rise. For the first time, New Zealand and Lithuania are represented with country pavilions.
 
On 4 February, awards for  take place during the opening ceremony at 10.00 am. The best companies and products are awarded "Best AgroFarm 2014" annually at AgroFarm. This year, 55 nominations were received, of which 16 winners were selected by an independent jury. Among the winners include 10 with the award "Best Product", five with the "Best Scientific Development" award and one with "Best Service".
 
International technical program
The unique technical program is a hallmark of AgroFarm. This year, over 50 professional events are taking place. Visitors have the opportunity to obtain detailed opinions and experiences from experts about current issues in animal production and animal breeding.
 
The keynote event of Agro Farm in 2014 is the business forum “Animal Husbandry Production and Processing Strategy: Challenges and Prospects”. The forum, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, offers simultaneous translation from Russian to English.
Other international events include the International Poultry Conference themed:
 
“Key markets for poultry products: trends and prospects for producers”, the conference is attended by speakers from the Netherlands, Russia, Poland and Brazil.
 
The Business Meeting “Advanced management systems for pig farming: Russian and foreign practices“ and the Roundtable “Cost reduction drivers in pig production” include speakers from the UK, Germany, Denmark, Russia and Ukraine.
 
The annual Congress of the National Union of Milk Producers, Soyuzmoloko, discusses the impact of WTO membership on beef cattle in addition to various other events on aquaculture in Russia and rabbit production.
 
A key topic this year is reproductive technologies. An Information center is dedicated to showing how modern reproductive techniques can further increase the productivity of cattle and pig livestock. Russians experts participating in seminars and workshops will address topics such as pregnancy detection, oestrus stimulation and synchronisation, optimal timing of insemination, and the use of ultrasound scanners. Herd management systems for heat detection as well as the proper use of pharmaceuticals for the synchronisation and optimisation of reproduction processes are also highlighted.
 
To supplement the Information Center, two conferences on reproduction will take place on 5 February. The two events focus on the use of modern reproductive technologies to increase cattle and pig stock, with each taking place in the pig and cattle forums respectively.
