The Russian Ministry of Agriculture welcomes AgroFarm Exhibition

Numerous Russian professional organisations at the animal husbandry and breeding exhibition, 19 to 21 June 2007 in Moscow

At a recent meeting attended by representatives from the Russian animal husbandry business, Ivan Rozhdestvensky, Director of the Livestock Farming and Veterinary Department of the Russian Agricultural Ministry, underlined the importance of creating a platform that caters for the animal husbandry profession. Concluding the meeting, the ministry called for active participation on the part of companies and organizations at AgroFarm 2007, the international exhibition for animal husbandry and breeding.

The current situation in the Russian livestock sector engenders requirements for information support, modern equipment, technology and agricultural machinery. An exhibition like AgroFarm offers an ideal setting for professionals seeking the latest developments in animal husbandry and breeding, according to the Russian Agricultural Ministry the AgroFarm, to be held at the All-Russian Exhibition Centre in Moscow on June 19-21 2007, will showcase innovations in veterinary science and genetic engineering, the best animal breeds focusing especially on pig, cattle and poultry as well as a wide range of promising solutions in the area of livestock management, husbandry, health and feeding.

Pig Investment Center

In response to the current investment boom in pig-breeding and actively supported by Rossvinprom, Rosselkhozbank and Rosagroleasing, a special presentation – Pig Investment Center – will feature at the exhibition. The presentation will be a market place bringing together pig farm equipment producers, finance institutions, investors and agricultural producers. They will deal with the issues of investment planning and funding. A business forum will operate as part of the Investment Center.

Round table – Poultry and egg production

The Russian Poultry Farming Association, Rosptitsesoyuz, and the European Poultry Club (EPC) with support from the exhibition organizers, the DLG, the German Agricultural Society, and Russian partner OAO GAO VVC (Moscow) will organize a round table discussion at AgroFarm. The round table will be attended by Russian and foreign poultry breeding organisations and farms.

Conference on meat production

Initiated by the Russian President, moves are underway to draft a federal programme for the development of beef farming in the Russian Federation in the period up to 2012. AgroFarm has been selected as one of the platforms to be used by industry experts to discuss the proposed programme. The Russian Ministry of Agriculture is convening a conference which will address the key issues of beef cattle breeding and identify a strategy for the development of this sector.

Forums on cattle and feed

The agenda of the special forum “Animal Husbandry” will also focus on dairy farming. High quality of livestock feed is the key to a high performing animal husbandry sector. Innovative ways of animal feed storage and production, as well as improved livestock, pig and poultry diets will be the main topics of the special forum on animal feeds.
